Thanks for mentioning OMGF!

A quick word on your manual method; the Google Webfonts Helper really shouldn’t be used anymore. It hasn’t been maintained for 3+ years, and it “behaves” like an old browser when downloading the files. Meaning you’ll get lesser compressed, much bigger files. It also doesn’t support Variable Fonts, which is the ultimate form of compression (one file for all font styles). There are newer alternatives out there.

Oh, and OMGF is also fully compatible with block themes 🙂 So, for users of a block theme that don’t want to follow the manual method (which is still pretty cool, btw.) it’s an easy alternative.
