I noticed TJ’s request. WordPress has traditionally stored media files by date format which has been an issue for server management.
Using a Real Estate Site, media libraries are normally managed by the End User. However if a Real Estate site is cluttered with media files and the server stores by date, then if the end user departs the site and leaves behind a substantial number of media files, this is an admin nightmare to manage without the front end user login details that can be used to delete the files.
So the need would be server management from the back-end in order to keep the server database as clean as possible. Many themes have media library designs for end user, but no access from back-end to manage the server’s libraries.
Host providers we have spoken to have not been able to suggest managing media databases other than hosting media files outside if the server such as Photon.
Any suggestions would be appreciated for server media management from back-end admin panel.

ty for the update. i had to do this manually via Screaming Frog and cross reference. I am looking into developing this as a plugin.

Hey Sandy, I am not aware of any plugin that can do that. Maybe someone else here can weigh in. However, maybe you could check your sitemap? I think some plugins create separate sitemaps for media files or at least have the possibility to. Yoast SEO might be among them. Hope this helps!

What about exporting a list of all media files and their respective urls in bulk? I know you can find the url to each media file in the library, but need a way to export a list of all of the urls with the click of a button. 🙂

I’m running a private instance of WordPress on a Godaddy Linux server environment. I’m using WordPress media uploader to batch upload jpg files (I have hundreds of them but am doing them in small groups of 20 so as to not overwhelm the uploader).

The uploader is not doing what it is supposed to. It is supposed to set the “Title” of the media item to be the file name. Instead, it is changing the Title to something only remotely resembling the file name. For example, a file name is “2003 Dodge Dakota.jpg”. Uploader correctly reformats the file name, slug, etc, as “2003-Dodge-Dakota”. But the Title of the media item is assigned something like “04DodgeCars”. It is clearly pulling some meta data from inside the file and using that as the Title and the permalink. It doesn’t do this on all the files, just about 30% of them, but no pattern has emerged. I just want the Title to be derived directly from the File name. I don’t want to have to manually change them all as there are hundreds of them, and I still wouldn’t be able to fix the permalink. Any ideas or plug-in alternatives to the uploader itself?

I have tested it thouroughly and it does not limit downloads by I.P address or user.

I have seen comments about this which are more than 3 years old on the plugin forums for Download Monitor, which has a new owner.

Maybe thats why Mike Jolley sold it.
