Just my two cents: I had to change the code in functions.php to this (added: “-child” to wp_enqueue_style #2 arg):

in order WP to grab child styles.

I updated the PHP version on my client’s website and it blew parts of my site. For instance, my widgets suddenly showed different elements to what they used to show before. Very weird! Apparently that is due to my child Theme version having ‘out of date PHP customisations’. Ans it indeed brought back some elements when switching back to the parent theme (but the odd widget content stayed anyway) Can you PLEASE elaborate on how to update the child theme to the newest PHP version? Very much appreciated …
